About Alison Hurd

I was born and raised in the Philippines but moved to Tucson in 1976. I finished high school here, graduated with a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Arizona and then went to the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) for my Master's degree. I have obtained my Arizona broker's license, ABR, GRI and CRS real estate designations through the 25 years I've been selling Tucson. In May, 2006, I opened my own real estate company, HURD HOMES, INC., for which I am the owner/broker.

My Client-First Philosophy

There are many qualities and skills that go into being an excellent real estate agent - integrity, in-depth community and market knowledge, marketing savvy, effective negotiation skills and a high-quality professional network. I strive to achieve all of this.

That said, in my experience as a Tucson real estate professional since 1988, I've found that providing the very best service is essentially about putting my clients first. This means keeping myself accessible, being a good listener as well as a good communicator, and responding quickly to their needs.

This "client first" philosophy has always been my approach and it requires me to continually improve my skills and ways of doing business. In addition, I've found that the latest technologies are enabling me to do everything I've always done, only much more quickly and efficiently. They've also helped me to extend the range of services I provide to my clients.

One thing that sets me apart from other realtors is the fact that I truly care about my buyers and sellers. I expect to be their realtor for life. My clients become my friends for life too. I am always  there for them years after a sale closes. I really try to stay in touch.

I have worked with many foreign nationals, especially Canadians and Mexicans.  Usually these are second homes, vacation properties. It can be a difficult, especially when selling a  foreign national's U.S. property, as they usually do not have a U.S. Social Security number. I have learned quite a bit over the past couple years on I.R.S. tax ramifications and dealing with foreign seller's capital gains.
